MNCH2 supported the Katsina State Government to establish a state MPDSR committee. The state-level committee oversees the proper and effective functioning of facility-level MPDSR committees established in the Federal Medical Centre and 18 General Hospitals that are providing RMNCH services in the state. The Committees were established according to national guidelines and will be developing and implementing action plans to ensure more holistic and culturally appropriate concepts to accelerate reductions in maternal, newborn and child mortality. 20 key stakeholders from the State Ministry of Health, Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria (SOGON) and other ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) were trained on 27th and 28th July 2015 in Kaduna at the state level MPDSR Committee while 5 facility staff (Medical Directors, Maternity in charges, Chief Nursing Officers, Laboratory in charges and Records Officers) from each of the 18 General Hospitals and Federal Medical Centre were trained on 26th and 27th August 2015 in Katsina.
