MNCH2’s quest for a rapid approach to strengthening the health systems both at the LGA and state level brought about the need for a rapid assessment of the systemic and individual capacities for performance. The first ever Local Government Areas Organisational Capacity Assessment was conducted in February 2015 for the first phase of LGAs (7) in Yobe state. After the sensitisation meeting for key stakeholders including the Honourable Commissioner of Health and the Director General Yobe State Primary Health Care Management Board on the -concept, the actual assessment took place in the 7 LGAs of Bade, Damaturu, Fika, Fune, Yunusari and Yusufari LGAs. Each subsequent year has revealed a wide gap in capacity across the 7 domains of leadership and governance, planning and budgeting, HMIS, health service delivery, procurement and logistics and resource mobilisation .
