Zamfara State Primary Health Care Board (ZSPHCB) becomes functional
The Zamfara State Primary Health Care under One Roof Law was passed and signed into Law on the 19th of May 2010 but the ZSPHCB was not functional. MNCH2 through the use of the Organizational Capacity Assessment Tool (OCAT) discovered this and swung into action. MNCH2 supported the State Ministry of Health on a study tour to Yobe State on PHCUOR, conducted sensitisation meetings for key stakeholders from Ministries of Health, Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs, and Local Government Service Commission with all the 14 LGA Honorable Chairmen and Directors. This led to the inauguration of the Repositioning Committee, chaired by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. A verification and assessment exercise for Staff was conducted and the report was submitted. The Zamfara State PHCB now has a befitting office with a qualified Executive Secretary, Management team and LGA PHC Staff, repositioned.
